Can you use ethanol blended fuel in leaded engines?

They claim you can in some, but not in others. Its RON rating is closer to leaded fuel than povo ULP so thats a plus without going to dearer ULP's like premium etc. It still does not eliminate the need for a lead replacement lube to protect the valve seats.
Ethanol is more corrosive than normal petrol so it can stuff the fuel system on some cars, it can take years though. Personally, I dont use it due to Aussie fuel systems never being designed for it. There is a reason we limit it to 10% ethanol, while other countries can run it at 85%. |

Rule of thumb ANYTHING produced before 1986 can not really run on E10 with out mods to the fuel system
ULP was introduced into mainstream Australia on the 01/01/1986 as the standard fuel |

I've been running my ute on ethanol blend and had to replace the seals on the sender units after they both started weeping, I put this down to 30 year old rubber not liking ethanol. No other problems however.
