The other thread about whether or not FPV and HSV are aftermaket modifiers - and the subsequent discussions that arose from that thread really got me thinking. Since Walkinshaw Performance basically go head to head with the aftermarket world, and seem to be doing quite well, why can't Prodrive do the same with Ford/FPVs?
More to the point, would you buy from them over some of our other workshops around? I guess it would be dependant on what they had to offer and the price they were charging. It appears as though theres a few selected aftermarket workshops which are Walkinshaw dealers, which means if Prodrive ever set up the same deal, they may possibly look into doing the same thing. Yes it's all hypothetical as theres not indiction yet that I have seen, to indicate anything ike this happening. But IMO I reckon it would be a success if they read the market properly and carefully selected their products and marketed them correctly. DJR tried the same deal a few years ago, but unfortunately didn't pull it off. I still think that there is a market though, and just personally I like the idea of my pride and joy being looked after by the company that has a majority stake in Fords official performance arm. |

Yeah I completely agree with that. I think Walkinshaw do a great service to their HSV customers by offering these services and give them a lot more confidence in getting their car modified. Many FPV enthusiasts would love to have the same and I can see it being a great success, as long as their customers understand the association of Prodrive/FPV like Walkinshaw/HSV.

It would be great for us Tickford/FPV owners to have a Aftermarket company to get bits from, always good to compete and beat Walkinshaw lol!

Yep good idea, provided they don't charge like a wounded bull for what you get, like TWR.

ford has had some good after market tuners...AIT, AVO, SVO, Herrod, DJR, Moffet/homologated Options, Brock...
We need some SVO F6's, NIZPRO builds some powerful F6 for overseas...

I think it would be gr8 for the FORD side. At least they'll be able to modify the vehicle and it'll still be under some sort of Factory Waranty..

FPR performance parts or something along the line, even if they adopted the "Ford Racing" brand from the states, the concept is well over due.

keep the level that is around now FORD- FPV- ?? and insert Ford Motorsport/racing as the top level Performance arm of the tree its all ready set up just need to branch out within australia either through a dealer network OR selected hi-performance shops.
could offer engine rebuilds or installations along the factory floor/line, genuine aftermaket parts ect.

I think the idea is great but I don`t think the market in Oz is big enough which is a pity but if you really want good quality FoMoCo stuff you can still get it but its from the US. Rouch in the states is huge does his own range of Stangs etc you can also get create motors from them. http://www.roushperformance.com/

I personally think that a better way of doing it would be to have more options available through FPV. Things like lightweight rims, different exhausts etc - all of which could be "tick box" options at time of purchase, or equally available to the market any time. That way the aftermarket still benefits, but buyers get more choice in what they want.
