I really want to get rid of the tow bar off my ST, it seems like every falcon has a tow bar sticking out the back and it really ruins it. Here is a pic of the car with the tow bar:
As you can see, it does no favours for the back end. The problem is it looks like there was no factory cut out to fit the tow bar (the original owner only put it on last year!) so they've just made their own bloody rough cut out. What can I do? Can I get something made up to fill the gap?

Yep. I have the same problem. The only way would be to plastic weld something in it's place.
For what it's worth, I just painted the tow bar tongue glass black and got a chrome towball to smarten up the rear. But obviously I would prefer it not to be there.

Hopefully I can get something done. Also is there supposed to be tickford wings on my boot?

Nope no wings from factory. Though I do recommend getting a pair and putting them on, it really completes the look of the rear end.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. The au's seem to have a problem with badge continuation, you'd get some on the sides you wouldn't get on the back and vice-versa. How much do the wings cost from ford?
I was thinking of putting them below the series III to make it even both sides. What do you think?

Yeah I have to wonder why some do and some don't. I'd have thought mine would've come with wings all round to be sure, it's as tickford as an xr6 gets.
Anybody know a place I could get something made up to cover the hole where the tow bar has been taken off?

I pity you poor buggers with that rear end cut out with the towbar. Maybe approach one of the places that make body kits they may be able to sort something out, I know it is repairable back to original - I have seen it done.
If you take a look on the inside of one of these rear bars there is a template that is drawn which shows where to cut the section out for the tongue. I'm not entirely convinced that factory fitted Tickford wings ever were placed on the boot of XR's.

Thanks a lot for the response, i'll see what a bodykit place can do for me!
Got the wings badge, really looks good on the boot. They should've been there from factory that's for sure.

I'm of the opinion that the guy at Tickford who put the badges on used to have a very bad drinking problem which meant there was no way he could keep his hands steady, some of the ones Ive seen come from factory are just shockers.
