Well the 20 should - IF it has the correct size tyre fitted.
As was already said, the diameter of the wheel (rim with tyre fitted) should be constant and should fit in the well no probs. |

my stock were 215/55/16 the 20's are 225/35... i dont believe you could keep the rolling diameter the same...by going 20's may be wrong though..

The correct size for your 20" rims is 225 30. Unfortunately not many manufacturers make this size (for sale in Austarlia) but they are definitely available if you shop around. I know for a fact that Kumho make them and there's probably others. They would be exactly the same as your originals. At present your speedo would be reading about 4% slow - not a good thing especially living in Victoria.

even 225/30 is bigger than the rollin diameter of 215/55/16... just the 20 inch wheel alone is almost as big as a 16 inch with a tyre... its a pain in the butt...

A 20" rim with the correct size tyre, or a 19" with the correct size tyre, or a 16" with the correct size tyre are all effectively the same diameter and will fit in the spare wheel cavity. If the rim is larger than 7" wide though, it will stick up noticeably under the carpet. Use http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html to check correct tyre sizes for different size rims. I usually do my comparison to a 225/50/16 or 235/45/17 as they were factory fitted tyre sizes on XRs.

Maths is not a mystery; in theory 2 + 2 = 4, and in practice, if you have 2 apples, and I give you 2 more, then you will have 4. Theory = reality. But you have an orange in the argument somewhere and you're treating it as an apple.

mate, as i said.. i'm not doubting the maths... if you had read my post, it states that i had both 225/35 AND 225/30... no need to get smart.. the question was will it fit.. i've tried both 225/35 and 225/30 and they both don't fit... so you know what you can do with your apples... hope you take that as a joke... its the end of the day JC

it is real simple as JC says if all things are equal it will fit . if you have illegal tyres ( incorrect diameter) they won't . also your speedo will be out but many don't care about this all that matters is it must look "fully sic". if you have the wrong tyres fitted insurance can wipe you too

My 20's with 225/35's on them are actually 3mm smaller in rolling diameter then my standard 17's that came on my Ser3 220 Xr8. And my 225/35 fits in the tyre well just fine.

By the way if you have 20's on an AU with 225's on the front there ILLEGAL anyway. Well in QLD anyway.

Thought it would. My 20's just a tiny bit smaller in rolling diameter so just drops in nice. I thought it would fit.
