Guys,

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on somewhere special to take my girl on the sunshine coast?? I live on the southside of brissy and spend most of my time on the goldcoast, so i dont know alot of places on the sunshine coast, but we want to do something different?

Any ideas?

Cost = doesnt matter..

In the hills, the Penny Farthing at Montville has brilliant cow and great beer on tap, it is one of my favorites.
The drive is heaps of fun too, go up via Palmwoods and down via Parklands.
On the front there are zillions of places to eat. The esplanade at Mooloolabah has several but can be overloaded with drunk teenagers, Cottontree near the bridge or down near the aquatic centre is quite good too.
Noosa has lots of stuff but boasts a more "cosmopolitan" genre lately, sort of "valley by the sea".

As far as stuff to do, Aus Zoo if you want to mortgage the house just to buy lunch (they take FPVs as a trade in on an entry ticket).
Underwaterworld on the spit, umpty zillion beaches and lookouts, big pineapple has great icecreams.

What sort of thing do you like doing?

I think we will just go for a drive, have some lunch and come home... The zoo sounds like fun but we need a car to get home in, and we have to take the PURSUIT because its the car to be seen in "apparently"... Women.....

Come up Via Dayboro, Mt Mee, Woodford. ( Pub has just been done up in Woodford )Head towards Peachester, turn left onto the Stanley River rd which takes you up the back way to Maleny. Over to Connondale, Kenilworth ( Cheese Factory and Pub ) then head up the OBI OBI Rd to Mapleton, then to Montville, Then drop down to Beerwah ( Via my place with a cold box of Coronas, of which I will kindly help you drink, while you swim in my pool ) and then home..................

Mooloolaba FTW

I love that place. The underwater shark joint is a top visit. The pub at the back of that joint is tops. Great food.

Heaps of seafood joints to check out too.

It depends on what you want to do. Food, adventure, sightseeing?

Noosa is very up market, however dont go there on a public holiday. Its beyond ridiculous to find parking on a public holiday. The beach there is great though. I used to live in Tewantin as a kid. lol

Its a big trip to do for just a day though. I reckon staying over night is the key.

Dayboro is a goodl little spot (Brisbane not SC) that you head to, pick a winery and get stuck into some great food and drink. Montville is a girly sort of spot that really doesn't fit into the normal QLD I have come to expect, it is more like "ye olde English village" with crafts, crafts, crafts and a Cuckoo clock shop (which is actually kind of nerdy cool when 12 strikes). I hated it, my wife and her mum loved it.

As Flappist said, the Zoo is very expensive and there is no price reduction if you get there after all the shows have finished.

I quite like Noosa, we park down the river (Noosaville I think??) and jump the boat into town - it's a nice ride, in nice waters, in a quaint boat with a commentary of what you are seeing along the way. From memory it was 15 mins or so.

My wife & I have taken to picking 'dot' towns and driving there for a counter meal and a few beers on the porch on a Sunday arvo. I was suprised how many there are that are within an hour of the city - feels like I am back at home in country NSW.

But in reality, if it's a day trip you want - why don't you wait and take her to Willowbank?

racq do discounts for the Zoo... but at the moment its super quiet here not many people throough the gates so great itme to go if you dont like crowds...

If you plan ahead though, best way to do it is organise a tiger walk int he morning, ahs to be booked in advance, then get pics to proove it ;) (got to call reception, 54 36 2000 to organsie and book, or the limas, rhinos or any animal excperience would be pretty special, but again, it all costs money)

But def stay awya from the food, pack yur own lunch your allowed to bring it in...
