At 7pm tonight my super pursuit ute was in the open of a hailstorm. Every metal panel is damaged. The roof, bonet, mudguards, everything. I need an exceptional panel beater to fix my car and take it back to its former glory. Anyone know of any places in Newcastle that can help? This is the car that normally lives in the 3rd bedroom, opinions on will they write it off insured for 46k. :

Sorry mate, dont know of anyone really. I had some bumpers done by MASTERS touch up and paint in Broadmeadow. Was a pretty budget job, and it didnt hold up for more than a month.
Let us know how you go with it, who you go with and prices as Ill be looking in about a month, if ya remember. Brooksy

Hail damage is usually easier to write off, it will come down to how big the quote is, being a ute you would think though less sheet area to repair, i.e. boot and other half of roof. You will however find that the whole car may need to be resprayed as the tops of panels will have been affected by the hail stones and possibly one of the sides if it came down on an angle.
I doubt you'll want any bog in the roof so a re-skin would be in the quote, that could mean removing just about everything from the interior of the car further increasing the quote total. If you don't mind filler then they could get it in easy, if you don't mind filler that is. Insured at $46K though you should get it in for a fix, maybe.

Thanks for the advice Will give Randals a call tomorrow, so far only 2 places that I think are fairdinkum most want to try PDR paintless dent removal all over, mate the panels are cactus.
Mainline at teralba said new bonnet, l/h door, l/h front guard, repair the 3 in the l/r guard with PDR, and try PDR on the roof and repair as required as is major job to remove and replace. The r/h/s only copped a few on the top of the guard (so the hail was going from left to right) When all parts are repaired and replaced total respray rather than only painting 2/3 of the car. Now that I could live with. I am going to get a quote from Marty's smash at wickham as they have won awards at car shows for P&P so they must be able to paint. Wish I had taken the impressa out not the FPV the subie has a couple of stone chips that need fixing lol atleast AAMI are letting me choose the repairer. Would have been easier to accept if I had bent it thru doing something stupid like say racing _2: but to just be in the wrong place at the wrong time parked sucks. The alarm atleast went off as if to say "get me the hell outa here."

Go see Arthur at Cardiff Body Shop, he does an excellent job, he's a mate of mine & drools over my Cobra & XR8 every time he sees them. He's also a huge Ford/FPV fan & would only work on Fords if he could.
Though he'll probably cry when he sees the damage on it. One way or another he'll get it back to like brand new or won't let it out of the workshop until he does. He won't let anyone else near or touch the Cobra when I call in to see him & he only lets the workshop foreman (or himself) work on my XR8. I even had to take the Cobra over so he could get photo's of it parked in front of the workshop. Last edited by cobramania; 11-02-2009 at 05:28 PM. |

PDR would of course be the cheapest plan of attack if it's possible, maybe get them try a section of the roof first to see what degree they can get it back to or even just the deeper dents. Ye paint the whole car even if you have to pay any difference, saves getting the color just not right if you know what I mean, even if it is you will always know in your mind.
What have the guys that have looked at it so far said price wise?? I know it'd kill ya to see them on here but any chance of pics?? If you want to, if not that's understandable.
