Default B Pillar tags

A friend of mine bought a brand new mondeo a fortnight back.
Was in love with it
After only 6 days ownership someone crashed into the drivers side door and damaged the B pillar, which has to be repaired. The car only has 600Km on it, he hasnt even taken it for aproper drive! Most distressing.

However he has been told the ID sticker on the pillar wil be destroyed. He has also been told that FORD will not provide replacement stickers.
This means for the rest of the life of the car it wil not have ID tags.
To me this doesnt seem right. When he goes to sell the car in years to come it could cause many problems. And similarly with rego and checks etc.

Does anyone know if there is anyway to get these tags replaced?
