You can buy a permit to move an unregistered car it is bought from the transport dept of the state you are buying it in. I got a permit for a car in vic to newcastle over the phone from vic roads with my card for less than $40 before I went down to get it, the car should be roadworthy though. Do yourself a favour and obtain an insurance covernote aswell before you drive it home.

To get the note you need all rego dtls of the car you are buying ie, vin no. year model, current owner their address etc......no rwc required got a blue slip before registering it in NSW.

mate no rwc is required but it should be in rwc condition you will need to get third party for the period of the permit, used to be about $70 a day and $50 for permit you will get the run around as to witch one one you will need first and i don't remember either. i know every time i have got one i was back and forth a couple of times with one saying i needed the other first, lol

Get in touch with the QLD Department of Transport, they will help you out, it is easy as. I got a permit for the guy who bought my GT and he drove it all the way and then registered it in Vic with no troubles.
