For some reason it was in the filter but possibly to stop it from being misspelt!
I've removed it for now. Cheers Russ

can someone please tell me what is wrong with the word s h i t t y. It is used to describe something in a manner we are all familiar with.I think the swear filtering goes a bit too far sometimes.

The words that are in the swear filter have been chosen to ensure that the site meets our stated goals of being family friendly.

Do you kiss your mother with that mouth!!
There are ways to get your point across without swearing and this IS a family based site. and I agree Melz...I was surprised that username got through myself.

Times have changed and some words are really quite inoffensive to some but appalling to others. Hard to find middle ground and keep everyone happy.
I find some of the misuse of signatures more offensive - nothing to do with Fords or cars but getting sarcastic digs at people or using this place for some hidden agenda and bullying. Sad people a bit lost in life, I feel. Let's accept the swear filter is there to keep things under control - look at the bigger picture not worry too much at the words that you have picked up. I have also had words removed which surprised me too. Gaela

We also have to accept that viewing the forums in corporate monitored time is an option for many of us, we don't want these forums blacklisted do we, god forbid no access at work! Its not a big issue, if ones is determined to swear on the forums then I put it to you that their a) their intentions don't merit their post and b) they should be able to adequately express themselves alternatively

Why is it that swearing is filtered, but using words such as 'gay' in a derogatory manner is fine?

Why would you even think that would be acceptable, what a silly question. If it has been used that way report it, dont waste your fingers here.

dunno if its possible or wether its been thought of but what about a option which hides swear words or show them like a family friendly option on the home page, not so that people can swear in every post, if people feel the need to do that than they are probaly on the wrong forum anyway, but more for threads such as "what jokes do you know" some jokes just arent funny when you have to use !@#$%^&&*()*(&$% because the swear filter wont allow @#$%%^#$%^
just my two cents worth anyways, not looking for a ban just expressing my opinion

Just had the swear filter working for me.
I was only trying to help out with GTP044's bubbles in his stripes (http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...25#post3009425), and mentioned that the repairer shouldnt just pri(ii)ck holes in the stripes and it deleted the important word!! Oh well, I hope the message still gets across OK. |
