Broken Suspension? .. Use some tennis balls!

"A DIY mechanic has been fined for using TENNIS BALLS to repair his car's suspension.
Cops collared Rumen Petrov, 34, when they spotted his Opel Vectra moving "oddly".

The horrified officers discovered that he had jammed six balls into the springs.

He was intending to drive to London when he was nabbed at Dover docks, Kent.

Petrov, of Croydon, South London,was fined £350 by Folkestone magistrates in his absence for using a vehicle with equipment likely to cause danger or injury.

A source said: "The car was a wreck, and although this was a novel way to fix the suspension, it was incredibly dangerous both to the driver and all other road users."

I saw a bloke that had a 6 cylinder Torana years ago and put half a house brick in where his engine mount should be so the motor didn't lean over, then tied it all down with some nylon rope.
He wondered why he got a yellow.

Bloody funny that show.... baddah baddah baddah. Loved the bloke turning over the fuel pump with a spanner - smoke hanging out of his mouth.

I love this blokes ingenuity bith the tenno's though. Maybe not the safest idea, but a bloody clever one nonetheless.

I remember years ago a bloke getting done in an Eh Holden, he fitted a celica 5 speed box, bolted it to the engine, but then simply supported the back of the gear box by punching two holes through the floor pan and using a wire coat hanger to support the rear of the box.. :

This is not new.

If anyone has been to "Checkpoint Charlie" in Berlin, and the adjacent Museum, this idea could have been stolen from there perhaps.

The East Germans used to smuggle people to West Germany (or visa versa) in the boot of a car. They used to stuff rubber balls into the rear suspension in exactly the same way to stop the rear of the car dropping with the added weight.

The museum has one of the cars caught on display, the rear sectioned to show the hidden compartments where a person would hide, and the 'modified' suspension.

hahaha, reminds me of a mate many years ago who got defected for the front being too low on his HQ after he dropped a 307 in it but neglected to change the 6 cylinder springs. His solution was to take the car home and put in blocks of wood above the springs to lift the car. I still don't know how he got the defect off cos the thing had drum brakes all round too. The cop inspecting it was obviously blind, stupid or both, haha.
