Default AU XR8 220 missing under load

I was hesitant to start this thread as I know there is one out there with a similar topic SOMEWHERE, but I'll be buggered if I can find it.

Anyhoo - the car runs fine until you get to about 3500 RPM and it just dies, feels like someone has jammed on the brakes.

List of things that have been changed recently -

Both o2 sensors, both cats, fuel pump, coil packs, leads and spark plugs.

Any ideas?

What's the fuel load when this happens?

About half, maybe a touch less.

I know when people usually post this type of thread the replys are "check coils leads plugs etc", but that's all been done, so I've got nothing.

When you put that pump in do you remember which way you had the sock facing?

The same way as factory - I think I even rang you about it when I was doing it to double check.

But it has only just started happening, I have run it down to almost empty a few times before with no power issues.

Clogged fuel filter is my guess (and Whoosha's).

I think it was Shane ( 5L ) that had this problem before? Try PMing him if he doesn't see this.

Yeah, I saw 5L's thread about that, his issue was crook leads - not in my case though. Thanks anyway.

Might go check the fuel filter now, thanks RG and Whoosha.

Had the same thing happen to me and I just happend to be on the phone to the great one as I was looking at this thread.

14mm spanner and an adjustable shifter to get it off. When was the last time you changed fuel filter?

Never ever. Might be the culprit.

+1 for the filter mate.
I know it's an I6 but when we test drove the current one the minute it
hit about 2800rpm it just died in the a.. turned out it was the fuel filter.
