stop flash is a formula that they claim, you spray on your number plates then it makes them invisable to the flash of speed cameras red light etc, and doesnt wash off, anyone used it or heard of?

doesnt work. i watched a show about all this crap and if the authorities cant quiet make out your plate they can use the negative of the photo. doesnt matter what you do, its visible on the negative.
thats gonna start a debate but tough. anyway it is illegal and you will get a whopping big fine if you are caught. |

Yeh it works, havent heard of STOPFLASH in particular although the formula works.
It dosnt make ur number plates invisible it just reflects the light from the flash over exposing them. So what if theyre illegal, going 3kays over is too. You cant tell its there just by looking at it. Hairspray comes off and isnt consistent. Sometimes speedcameras dont use the flash. You can also get pulled over so its not a ticket to speed everywhere. |

Yeh i've seen photos taken with various substances on it.
STOPFLASH was one of them didn't do anything. Made it reflect the flash a tiny bit but numberplate was 100% readable. Hairspray helped cover it up a fair bit but if you looked close you could still make it out through the glare. |

Thats a good point, if I can get my hands on the negative for the above mentioned photo, I'll find out.

I work for a company which has access to licence plate cameras.
There are three options on how to view the photo. 1: Normal 2: Negative 3: Infra Red No matter what you do, one of those methods will pick out your numberplate. The operator also has various clarification, zooming etc. options available to them. Nothing short of removing your plate altogether can stop it from being read.

I had a mate who spray painted about 3 or 4 coats of clear acrylic laquer on his plates, he got out of red light cameras and fixed speed cameras for a couple of years, then the clear started to peel off and one day a cop noticed it, pulled him over and gave him a $1500.00 fine. Later that week he lost his licence trying to outrun the cops in a worked swift GTI (but thats another story).

I'll add another 'doesn't work' vote.
I suppose you can test it out yourself - spray a licence plate with whatever you think it'll work, then take a photo and see what happens. Run the photo through PaintShop with all kinds of filters. |

I heard of bikies who use tape to alter their plates. Though the guy who told me isn't always a reliable source.

A lot of cars (you know the crowds) have the checkerplate around the plates. They reckon this works to reflect the flash sufficiently.
I do actually know of a company who makes the high visibility reflective signs for councils etc. Word is that every employee has a plate made out of the same material to avoid cameras. Don'tknow how it goes if you're driving behind them at night tho. |
