Hey guys, i own a au xr6 ute 5 speed when i first purchased it, it would shudder when taking off in first and when reversing. but as about 3 months has past the shudder has gone away and it is now just a smooth change. Im happy with the way it is now but am just wondering if anyone has any explanation to why it would do this?

There wasn't any oil on the clutch plate or flywheel was there? Possible after 3 months it may have worn off and has stopped the shudder. Only suggestion due to changing a clutch on my mates xf the other day thats what we found to be the problem.

sorry wouldnt be able to tell ya havent had it apart, i was originally going to replace it but now im just gonna wait and see how it goes. also the pedal seems to feel pretty heavy, could it be a heavy duty clutch and would this relate to the shuddering that occured.??

falcon clutches can feel fairly heavy if the cable isn't well lubricated. i have a manual ea wagon and the clutch in it feels heavier than the clutch in my patrol...

Man I dont wanna bring the bad news, but I have exactly the same car- AU2 XR6 VCT ute, it used to shudder, and it went away by itself too. Now however the clutch is starting to slip at about 3-4000 rpm, and going uphills. I think the shudder is an indication the clutch is on the way out.

That shudder problem is a weird one, i have the xr6 ute manual and it does the same thing every now and then, been a while now since it last did it i think. love the heavy clutch too, when i drive a friends car with hydraulic clutch i nearly put my foot through the floor forgetting it is a light clutch!

Hi guys, I had the clutch replaced today, the service guy reckoned the shudder is due to one of the springs being broken- not sure which he was referring to. Once the spring is broken or worn, the clutch is lifted unevenly when the pedal is pressed, leading to grabbing on some sections of the plate. Figured I'd pass it on.

i have the same problem to, replaced my clutch with same brand clutch, was pretty light for a week the got real stiff and still shudders the car on take off, to the point that i can see the tray bouncing, the gearbox makes the shudder sound when clutch is out and in neutral, but goes away when clutch is in. Any ideas? i didnt change my spiggot bearing either. hope its not the box
