I've only got the standard S3 Futura 3.08's.........if I ever moved up to say a 3.45, would this throw the speedo out, even though the 3.45's were a 'factory' diff? Was that the 'shortest' diff that came out?

Wouldn't want more than what came out in factory guise....

would throw the speedo out mate, but you should be able to get it sorted by changing the transducer on the gearbox..

3.45's were the shortest in the au's

i've got 3.23's and 3.45's in complete centres in great nick for sale... very cheap!!
pm me if you're interested...

I'm sure any trans place could do this yeah? Expensive?

Does changing the diff ratio affect roadworthy / insurance?

wouldn't affect roadworthy / insurance mate...
and yes a trans place could do it.. wouldnt be more than 100 at the absolute most...
probably cheaper as they often have quite a few transducers lying around...
i know they did where i used to work...
