Bugger.. I got it written down at home but am on holidays. I got it from Ford direct. Actually they called me. I called a dealership to get the procedure, that didn't work (was wrong procedure) and then got a call from Ford HO a few days later asking for feedback on the customer service I got.

When I explained what happened she assued me that a tech would get back to me, and they did with the correct procedure.

Call a dealership, failing that, call whatever number Ford has for customer help etc.

It should have the word "code" on the display, punch in your 4 digits and you should be right.

If you have fooled around with it and made a few mistakes you need to reset it (if memory serves) by leaving key on acc for a certain length of time then starting over again...

Then again, that could have been the wrong information I got in the first place..

What happened with this mate?

I got a friend who entered hers wrong a few times and now the radio says 'error' on it. Ford want $220 to pull it out and have it re-flashed. Sounds like crap to me. She has since got the correct code from Ford but hasn't been able to enter it. Have tried disconnecting the battery overnight but no go.

I would have thought leaving the car in 'acc' for sometime will drain the battery....Is that right?

Ford want how much to re-flash a 10 year old cassette deck?

There is a wrong way, and a right way to do it. Refer to my post above. The dealer I called for help had the procedure wrong and got me nowhere.

Call Ford direct, I forget the procedure but I didn't need to disconnect the battery etc.

If that fails, replace the tape deck with a new unit... $220 will get you a very nice one I'm sure.
