Default V8 Radiators, where from?

Where are you guys getting your radiators from and roughly how much are you paying? The meanie needs a new one and I plan to do the entire cooling system - got everything bar the radiator and just not sure what type, how much is a decent price etc.

Any ideas?

are`nt the radiators the same for 6 and 8 in the Au`s? i think they are, there`s some cheap ones on ebay, one is about 80 for an au, the other is a fairlane radiator.......i`d be surprised if there was a difference,
about 5 years ago i paid 160.00 through ebay that turned out to be a radiator place when i went to pick it up, its still good at 5 years old(touch wood.....my head).

i got mine off ebay about 3 years ago. I think it was $180 delivered but i got a copper one, i think copper works better than alloy myself. And has always worked perfectly, thats while giving the car plenty of hiding and in the heat up here.

Austin ... is yours auto???

If so ... do you have an auxiliary trans cooler???
If you do ... get a manual radiator (no plugs for the trans lines) ... and run the trans lines direct to the auxiliary trans cooler.

I got my twin core from NatRad ... was an ADRAD item ... I can't remember the price for it though. Was a copper core unit as well.

Thanks mate, this ute is a manual so I was planning to get one without the plugs. Hoping to get one this week and put it in on the weekend.

I did some ringing around today and best I could do is $200 for a brass core one supplied for me to fit myself. This is before I try my contacts through work, I am a little worried about getting 'cheap' ones though, I want a good one.

Does the price seem ok?

$200 sound about right ... the auto ones cost more (internal trans cooler).
Anything has to be better than the factory unit.

Just got an alloy one for $130 off ebay (H &H imports) with a two year warranty and tax invoice. How can I go wrong? Also got a brand new Hayden trans cooler (no box or fittings) for $25 delivered which I'll fit at the same time. Gotta love ebay!

I was tempted to go Ebay but ended up getting an Adrad one for $180 from the local guy. Looks to be the same thickness as the factory one so I doubt it is anything special, but given the factory one has lasted 10 years I'm sure this one will see the life of the car out (as long as I have it anyway).

Going to fit 'er up tomorrow.

What is the advantage of brass/copper over aluminium core?

AFAIK copper conducts heat better than aluminium. Also having alloy heads on my V8 would it be better to keep it uniform considering I'll be running coolant recommended for aluminium heads?

the BIGGEST advantage of copper/brass over aluminium is, copper/brass is easier to repair.
