Unhappy Air conditioning squeeeeeling

Hey guys,

I just got my second AU. Im just ironing out all the kinks this one has.

So the problem is i turn my air conditioning on and there is a high pitched squeel that even my radio cannot compete with.

I dropped the glove box and looked at the a/c fan thing in the dash and there was what looks like remains of a plastic bag in there. I pulled out the remains of plastic bag i could get to (some bits being really spun up by the fan) but the noise still exists.

I suspect that their is more plastic bag behind the grills which i cant get to. Which is stuck in it making the noise. Is there a way i can pull the fan thing off? I tried removing the clip and pulling but it wouldnt move.

Thanks in advance!

Hey mate, my air con fan does a similar thing, except I can't see anything in It. I've been told (and it seems to make sense from where things are) that you have to remove the dash to get the fan box out. I've been delaying doing it for that reason haha.

ah your joking what a muck around! wish there were tricks for extracting the bag somehow.

How long would the dash take to remove?

Um don't quote me because I haven't done it yet but from reading my workshop manual you could take it off, fix the fan or just replace it and reinstall the dash in maybe three hours. It's mostly undoing screws and tabs and unplugging wires. It seems pretty straight forward but like I said, I've never done it haha.
