Theres a big sign at the front left hand side. Maybe you could ask your mate that took the pics as to what it is...:

it does have the same front as a 57 prince skyline, so i would have thought it would be a skyway (based off a skyline).
but.. they have rear fins, unless this has had the fins removed? im stumped. :| |

No problem mate. Knew I had to join this forum one day, after lurking for a bit.
(P.S. I don't think you would want to kiss a 48 year old bearded bloke with a crook tikka and crook back, and going bald very quickly. But thanks anyway.) |

tell you what, you chose the right to enter.you entered with a bang! from your post, ive been able to locate a thread with the exact car being restored, turns out the car is closer to home then i thought, its 3 streets away! I recognised the house in the background of the photo. Im keen to go have a chat to him, Im absolutely in love with the car and would love to get my hands on one. do you know if they are very rare? |

Remember seeing them (but not many) in my younger days, but haven't seen one for years. And by going on the other replies, I'd say that yes, they would be rare by now. But I could be wrong.

I think these were the predessior to the fisrt Corona. A mate had a sedan as his first car many years ago. I've seen a few ute versions on ebay over time but would not be many left i'd imagine.

From memory
I think the Tiaras had a 700cc 4 cylinder and a 2 speed auto not a real good start for Toyotas get the connection Toyota Crown and a smaller Crown is a Tiara I bet they would have loved to have Coronet too but that was owned by the Chrysler group as in Dodge Corornet thats my memories John also I read once that back in the FE days of 1957 GMH made more Holdens here in OZ than Toyota made in Japan |
