Who doesn't love fighter jets !
The RAAF are welcoming more Super Hornets (F111 replacement) by doing a formation flyover with 20 of them. Gold Coast, Brisbane & Sunshine Coast residents are in for a rare treat this Firday (21/10). Brisbane should see them around 11:30am. Link > http://www.sunshinecoastdaily.com.au...buzz-to-coast/

That would be great to see, was up at gold coast once and had two F-111 scream over the beach - fantastic watching them silenlty move in and fly over head and then the noise. Used to love Indy for the same reasons
Pity we get nothing like that down in Victoria - last few MotoGPs (not sure about this year) there hasnt been any jets.

Love this stuff.
I was at the beach in Melbourne one day and two Hornets flew past, very slow and low. I think they were showing off the anniversay RAAF tail art. |

It was over quicker than I thought but that was pretty awesome.
What an intimidating site that would be on a battlefield.

I went to my vantage point and there were a lot of people there to see the jets. Although they didn't fly over the top of us, or even come as close to our spot as much as many people thought, we still got a good unobstructed view.

I think they are about 100Million a jet including all the support equipment and such … so 2 billion up in the air LOL …
I used to see a lot of F15s and F16s when living in Israel years ago … they make an awesome noise when flying fast real low |

Jets fly over here all the time. Out at my mates dad's property I have seen them literally go underneath them big power lines. Crazy stuff. We don't see them as much now because a while back they had complaints about breaking house windows from the noise.
Most unusal thing I seen them do was drop flares. They were doing it for ages, must of been some training exercise. Out here you also see the odd cargo plane going over.

Great photos everyone... had American superhornets here and they are much louder then the "legacy" hornets.
The stray jet is a BAE Hawk trainer... plenty of publicity photos wouldve been taken for sure.

The army was doing a training exercise in Geelong a few months ago with Blackhawks picking up troops from Skilled Stadium and ferrying them to Torquay. They were flying so low over my house I could see the faces of the troops inside, and they were doing it all day.
Very cool. |
