http://www.egmcartech.com/2011/11/03...or-la-preview/ While I love the styling and driving experience of the WS Zetec I think this 5-door ST looks sensational (I actually prefer it over the 3-door concept), and with a 1.6 ecoboost/6 speed manual/tricked out suspension it should be an awesome drive (and easy to live with). I can't wait to see one in the flesh and take it for a test drive. What does everyone think? Im guessing with some luck we'll see the Fez ST here in Oz by 2013? I wonder which factories aorund the world will build the STs and in what body styles? Would Ford Oz prefer the 5 over the 3-door (as 3-door Zetecs weren't selling in sufficient numbers to be kept on the Aussie roster) OR would they go the 3-door as a point of differentiation? OR would they not have a choice in the matter? And here's a Ford Germany advert for the 3 door ST: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxHmA...eature=related The final shot of the Fez (27 seconds onwards) says it all... |

Yeah, I'm liking the four door over the 3 too. I think the front end treatment is very tasteful indeed.
Ford have done a good job with the Fiesta I reckon.

I think I agree, the interior looks really good, not so sure about that front grille though. Kinda looks ok with a number plate on it but it would seem our current zetec's have a better more interesting grille then just a mesh insert. I really like the back end looks heaps more muscley I reckon.

Eeek! 180hp, that's getting close to Golf GTI range.
Wonder how much extra boost a 1.6 Ecoboost can handle... The front grille from an aesthetic point of view is done rather tastefully, however, i still think the current Zetec grille looks better. Should be much better from an intake point of view and has the potential to mount a HUMUNGOUS front mount intercooler for a tiny little car. |

Will be interesting to see how much torque steer and understeer it will have, normally Ford has been quite good with correcting this issue though.
Will also be interesting to see what people tune them up to.

Considering the 1 litre EB has been tuned to a reliable 204hp for the Formula Ford..... the 1.6 could easily see 250 plus: but traction and torque steer will become a problem (fun) then...

Not if I don't get it first. Note to Ford Australia, unless it's the 5 door you can keep it and also you better leave the ST badges on. None of this dodgy XR rubbish
Thanks, |

ST branding has gone global, it won't be re-badged as an XR4. And as much as I like the 3 door shape, the grown up in me is hoping we at least get the option if the 5 door here in Oz.

3 door looks best and is keeping with a true hot hatch, but 5 door will be easiest to live with.

The MY13 Polo GTi 5 Door is $28,990 plus on roads which is probably the Fiesta ST's main competitor ... the Fiesta would have to be around the same money I reckon or slightly better. I'm struggling to think of what other cars would even be in the same warm/hot hatch class ? .. you could possibly throw the Suzuki Swift Sport in there at $23,990 plus on roads, but other than that, what else is there ?
