Originally known as the Holden Vs Ford Show, the renamed AME show held last week at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre was a pleasant mix of old school muscle and new breed hi-tech horsepower. There were many top class cars, vans, Utes and bikes on display but it was the dyno competition that caught our eye. A large number of brute power LS1 supercharged and turbocharged Commodores set the bar to impress, three cars surpassing the 1000hp at the wheels mark. Sal’s Dynomotive ‘MRCV8’ twin turbo 422ci stroker Monaro recorded a first up pull of 961hp before a final 1002hp reading. Craig Munro’s TRYHRD Clubsport is perhaps one of the most over engineered Aussie cars ever built for a dyno competition. The car wasn’t without its share of dramas. Breaking four pushrods on the Saturday, the guys from The Horsepower Factory quickly set to work on Sunday morning replacing the rods before getting another crack at the dyno. Using a moderate boost figure the car was still able to easily record 1073hp. This will be one car to watch out for at the upcoming Summernats in Canberra where the guys will be aiming for the 1500hp region. The highest outright figure however went to Eddie Tassone’s ‘PSI383’ Ute. The same engine setup from his VH Commodore, Tassone made the long trek from Perth and was still finishing work on the car at the event. An initial dyno run resulted in the back of the intake plenum blowing out. Quickly welded up, Eddie was the last car onto the dyno and came away with a deserving victory, 1372hp to be exact! Another strong performance from the HP-F team was Gary’s tiger gold ‘BLO402’ supercharged VX at 903hp, Adam’s BA XR6 turbo 9-second sedan at 470hp in street trim while Craig’s black XR6 turbo made 506hp to the rollers. The most powerful XR6 turbo was Karmen's GTECH Performance phantom Purple Falcon just pipping Craig with a best of 506.7hp! Glenn Everitt’s own G&D Performance twin turbo work Ute made a strong 634hp on pump fuel while the ‘BLYNVY’ sedan recorded 502hp through its PWR positive displacement blower kit. One of the standout LS1’s from the event was the Dynomotive twin turbo Ute. The Holden has already run deep into the 9-second region but is now equipped with fresh engine setup and huge tyres aimed to shake the quarter mile. The guys were struggling to strap the beast to the rollers as it turned the tyres to smoke, but Mark did manage 913hp through the hi-stall auto drag gearbox. The dyno competition wasn’t entirely Holden domination with the blue oval picking up a few trophies. The most powerful turbo six went the Jim Mock Motorsport EF Falcon cranking out a stout 605hp while the naturally aspirated title was awarded to the Trick & Mansweto 388ci XW Falcon that made 547hp! JUST TO ADD TO THE UNICHIP/ EDIT DEBATE THE XR6 TURBO WITH THE HIGHEST HP IS ACTUALLY FITTED WTH A UNICHIP |

It was a great show, good to see that there wasn't much "rice" there

A 9-second BA in street trim just shy of making 500hp is crazy! Are the big horsepower Holdens streetable? I'm guessing no (I doubt there are many streetable cars able to achieve these numbers). I'm merely curious, not trying to start a s hit fight. Have any of these dyno queens been down the 1/4?
