As expected it looks like the new mid-size Ford sedan will use the new design language previewed by the Evos Concept.

I can't say I'm particularly keen on the shape of the nose. The current front end looks better. That said, from what I can tell, the rest of the car looks fantastic.

The MC Mondeo rear styling update looks good but I'm not so sure about the front. However, my favourite Ford at the moment is the Fiesta - our neighbour has a Zetec in "Ford" blue and it looks great.

They're saying that the next gen Fusion may debut as early as next year!

Under One Ford, the Mondeo will be global just like the new Focus and to some extent, the Fiesta. The next Mondeo/ USDM Fusion/ Lincoln MKZ is most likely using an updated version of the (european) EUCD platform used by the current Mondeo. The current USDM Fusion is based on a modified version of the previous Mazda 6 platform, which will eventually be discontinued. Last edited by AG3; 21-09-2011 at 02:55 PM. |

The current Mazda 6 was also meant to use the same platform but they decided to update the 6 instead, possibly because the Mazda engineers didn't like how heavy it is!

2850 mm vs 2725 mm. PS: ...but Mazda did adopt Ford's control blade rear suspension on the 6. |

Here's a chop I did, I originally posted this in the CarSpyShots forum.
"Here's what I think the next Mondeo/ USDM Fusion will look like based on the spy photos and the information that new Fords will use the new global design langauge previewed by the Evos Concept." PS: I'll try to update it when more info and spy photos come out. Last edited by AG3; 23-09-2011 at 07:41 PM. |
