Went to the petrol station to fill up my car when i saw petrol was only $1.38 haha....i had about three quarters full but when i started filling it only took a couple of liters and started to click as if it was full but i know it can't possibly be full (got back in the car and needle hadn't moved) so i went and paid and moved to the next pump thinking there might be something wrong with the pump but the same thing happened?? anyone had this happen before

its all to do with the angle you are holding the knobmake that nozzle. move it to different angles in filler cap and should be good to go

I've noticed it too. I can squeeze nearly an extra 15$ into mine. And still only gives me 550k's per tank haha

My EL was a royal pain to fill up when I bought it. Eventually got sick of it and took a peek down the filler, saw that the little flap had broken and was creating an obstruction in the tube. Tried pulling it out with one of those flexible claw things, got a hold of it but it fell into the tank.
Now theres no obstruction and it fills up fine.

I notice that after service stations have their pumps serviced, the splash back cut off is sensitive.
What i do is start off slow to get rid of any warmth in the nozzle, as colder fuel flows through the splash back gets less sensitive. Try it and see.. |

I pretty much go to the same pump at the same petrol station around 10:30pm usually because that's when the wife asks me, "by the way will I get to work and back with 40km till empty?" ..obviously not...and I can only fill up the G6ET by starting slowly as jpd80 stated and holding the nozzle almost horizontal. don't ask why but it's how it works.

Generally turning the handle anticlockwise to around the 3 to 4 o'clock position works.

^ This.
The general consensus with the fuel filling issues like this is to hold the nozzle at 4 o'clock. I personally don't get this problem, not sure why I'm the lucky one, but it seems to work for others!

In my old WRX, I had to pull the nozzle out a bit otherwise it would keep stopping (same happens on my wife's WRX) but with the XR50, I just stick it in and it fills up no problems. First click and it is full. With both WRX's after the first click, I can still get in another dollar's worth. But not with the XR50. It starts overflowing if I fill after first click.

I've been having this problem with the diesel pumps at the servo we use for work.
Trying to fill a nearly 200L tank makes me want to cry.

I have had the same problem in my Territory and the fuel would splash back at my local BP, but only I used the premium pumps, I tried the normal ULP pump and it worked fine. A couple of people have told be the cutting off and splash back is because the flow is too fast.

What ive noticed at some servos is that when petrol is selling at a discounted price, the flow seems to be slow
But when petrol is selling at the full retail price, the flow is twice as fast Go figure ...... |
