Default Who are Auto Buying Division, Smithfield?

Hi lads,
I got a call this morning from the above mentioned company in response to my Carsales Ad. They said thet have an interested buyer and could I bring the car in for them to look at. Smithfield is not all that far from where I am so that's not an issue but are they scammers or an auction house who'll try and screw me over on the price?

If you Google them you'll find similar threads to what you're asking. Apparently they'll just low ball you on the price on behalf of clients they have.

Thanks for that, I've had a bit of a look and and they all seem to say the same thing. I'm not that desperate to sell at the moment.

I got 2 calls from them when I had my BA GTP up for sale. If I wanted them to look at the car I would have to make an appointment and drive my car there.

Contrast this with Citylink Motors near where the M4 starts off Parramatta Road - I had 3 calls from the guy there and he was keen to come to view the car. He was actually quite good to talk to.

Car eventually sold to another Forum member.

Citylink Motors are the ones on the left (coming from the city) near the lights to turn onto the M4 aren't they? They've always got heaps of modified Fords and Holdens there.

Wow what an offer. Don't know how she could have turned that down.

Yep, that's right. They were keen to get mine as they said they like to have one or two of the early models with low mileage on their lot. The guy who called me, Keith, was not high pressure and he was quite open about what they would have to outlay for the car plus offer warranty for it.

In the end I was more happy that the car went to a fellow enthusiast.

Thanks Steve.

Off Topic: We haven't sold the house yet, real estate market is a bit slow, so I've been looking for a new car.

I've put a deposit on a Black/Red combo of the new "Panther"; I was considering a Chrysler 300 SRT8 but when I heard about this new limited edition I had a good feeling. I'm taking a GTP for a test drive tomorrow and will post up some drive impressions in the S/C Forum.

Yeah been there done that.
They will give you the highest price they can but keep in mind they have to make money..and the dealers the car goes to has to make money, so the price is generally a bit shabby. Unless of course you just want to get rid of the car ASAP no matter what.

I found that they give the highest price from all the car buyer/auction house's.

All the best
