Oh and if you guys are wondering what my aunty actually drives its a BA XT. She was wearing a Ford Motor Company Detroit jacket at the time she talked to me, she got it at the Geelong plant she tells me. Huge Ford fan, everyone in my family is, but some drive a little different! Now my uncle with his XB GT, is one full on driver!

Mate, you'll be fine. Just take care of her and she will take care of you. Nothing wrong with giving it a little every now and then. Just know when to draw the line.

And yes, play hard, pay hard. There's lots of extra TLC needed to keep it running at it's best. Having said that I've never had a problem with the engine, broken plenty of other things, motor keeps on keeping on.

Nah, it's a hill climb, so built differently to a proper circuit.
All sorts of cars run it, from purpose built open wheelers, through to hot hatches, and family taxis (there's a commo wagon that regularly attendes)

The further you press down on the pedal the more the throttle body will open to allow more air in the engine, it isn't simply reving higher (you can always WOT it at 1500rpm and hold it there for a while in 6th if you like) it is actually creating more torque/ power. As for reving it in first, well, that is kind of the whole idea. I want the throttle opened to get that torque, but I also want the acceleration that first offers. If I leave it in auto it will either take off in second and need WOT to get in first which will lead to a powerskid off the lights o.O It also won't hold first long enough without enough throttle, all it cares about is economy. |

WOTs an abbreviation for "Wide Open Throttle". Just means the throttle is open completely, allowing the maximum amount of air to be drawn into the engine by the vacuum it creates.

I love accelerating away from the lights into the 90 zone near my old house.
WOT at 5500rpm and my car is still quieter then they average fart can. But I guess I'm still being extremely dangerous and loud. Even though I never break the speed limit |
