I had a 83' KE70 corolla as my first car bought it for $150 when i was 15 my grandfather de rusted it and gave it a fresh coat of paint for $100 drove it for til i was 17 but of course fell under peer pressure and had to have something much newer (bought a 1989 Magna TE SE :/) the rolla took a thrashing and still wanted to go! 4spd manual was the downfall tho driving from mt gambier to adelaide in 4th gear is noisy!! regret not keeping it was so cheap to run and register

We get a lot of DX Corrollas here, K series Corollas too. Pretty much no Datsuns or Mazda rotaries though - too expensive.
Nissan Cefiros are the going thing at the mo, cheap as dirt and have trickle down street cred effect from the drift scene.

safer in respect to not getting up to 100kph in less than 6 seconds like the turbo godzillas out there. some of those old cars had 80hp on a good day. no airbag, strong steel or crush zone is gonna save you if you wrap the car around a stobie pole or tree at 150kph.

I bought this for a carton last year. Straight as, interior is in great nick, one owner, Ford service history... Just needs two patches of rust welded up and a new windscreen. Would make a very cool daily driver/race truck. Love the factory speedblock graphics.

Since we're sharing... this was my daily for about 5 years, then my weekender for about another 3. Now its something that just takes up garage space, but cant bring myself to sell it. Once I find somewhere else to stick it I can get the GTP back in the garage

As a 70's child, I grew up with these cars and even got driven around by a friends mum in a Datsun 120Y
personally I just love the 70's Japanese cars. The 76 Celica, 120Y coupe's, 180B, 240 ZX (my father had one of those) are just a few of my favourites the mazda's of the decade are another a friend of mine has a couple datsuns that he is keeping Sure their not like todays cars but unfortunately today's cars are bland and very boring styling wise. I am yet to buy a new car or even a second hand 21st century car. They just dont have any flair Whether they use them for drifting or as a weekend cruiser, it's all good. Cool cars I say. |
