I haven't recognised GM as the world's biggest carmaker for a long time now. They may sell the most cars, but they don't make money on them... I wouldn't call that big.
Toyota is the world's wealthiest car manufacturer, therefore, in my eyes, the biggest. No point in selling a billion cars even, if you don't make a cent on them, and in fact lose a few billion while you're at it...
