I've got my car booked in for the BIG service at the end of the month. I did a little bit of phoning round the garages for prices and came across something quite interesting.
The two prices quoted were $505 & $925. It started off at the 925 but then another garage asked what the build date was because if it was before May 2010 then the price dropped to the 505. I asked why but he couldn't give me an answer!! Still quoting for the MB mondo. The only reason that I could come up with was the change to the Power shift auto box. If any one else has any ideas then let us know just to satisfy my curiosity. All I need to do before the service is fit some new brake pads all round.

Hey mate have you tried a Ford dealer. They have a Capped Price Servicing deal going on. More info here www.ford.com.au/myfordcps.

Oil and filter in the powershift gearbox get changed at 60k.
The oil is ~$100/L, which is why the price jumps so much. Best to check whether or not yours has a powershift, because they did bring them out in the MB. |

The Powershift is the new "auto" box, all diesel and Ecoboost Mondeos have the Powershift.

Not the powershift, it needs regular oil changes just like a manual transmission.

Hey there fella's I was quoted $380 plus for the oil from numerous Ford dealers as my 60k sevice is due in about 10k. To say that I was shocked would be an understatement but not all is lost there is an oil available that meets the Ford specification and it can be bought direct from the manufacturer at about $12 per litre. I'm seriously looking at importing some so that I can supply my own oil when the service is due. If any other Mondeo owners are interested I would be more than happy to consolidate an order and save us all some money.

60k service for Focus diesel manual is $4xx, throw in the powershift and it doubles....
Mine is also due in 8000km. Oh well.

Just FYI, I have used this site as a handy reference but never actually booked a service. It also shows the intervals and what needs to be checked/changed.

Hi,
As I understand it, there was a diesel engine change at that time in the MB's. Pre May 2010 have the same TDCI as my LT focus but afterwards they differ, (more power/torque and better economy). Maybe this contributes as well as the powershift to the increased costs? Cheers. |
