Wife has damaged one of the 18" rims on her FG XR6 and I found one in Perth. Any suggestions who to speak to to ship and any ideas of costs?

Mid last year I shipped four 18" territory rims from Perth to Sale using smartsend.com.au. Using the 'slow' option, it cost me a measly $90, door to door. You could track the progress of your package via their website, too. I was extremely happy with both price and service and would not hesitate to use them again. Hope that helps. Craig H

Where is the rim? I work in Balcatta.
If you can somehow get it to me, or if it's close by, I'll ship it from here. Just don't tell anyone.

Less than 20Kg, use Australia Post, just pop the rim in a mailing box
Where in Perth is it located? .

I haven't actually spoken to them yet as I don't want to waste time if it's all too uneconomical, but apparently it's Kwinana ... and it still has a tyre on it which would put it over 20kg I suspect .. and significantly larger dimensions. If they aren't willing to have the tyre stripped I'd say it's about 40kg even with the air removed?

All worked very well, except that the courier intially took them to the wrong addtress. Just so happened that the company the guy in Perth worked for has an office in Sale, and they are located in the same street as me! My address is 14 and theirs is something like 14x , so courier thought they had got the address wrong and tried to deliver them to the office. After a few phone calls between east and west coast offices, and the west coast boss asking the question as to why the company was paying for rims to be shipped, all was eventually resolved! I guess it depends on how helpful the folk at the Perth end are for you. Again, hope that helps

I did the reverse and had 5 rims with tyres sent from bairnsdale to Perth, I used e-go and it was around the $120 mark, picked up from their address and dropped off at a depot here. Freight to Perth is expensive, coming from Perth is cheap as they often send back empty containers.

The problem with sending an 18"x8" rim by austpost is the girth of the package. 140cm is the maximum so you have to keep your packaging fairly tight to fit under that.
I have used E-go and Smartsend, both as a sender and receiver, many times to send wheels and have been very happy with both of them. However, I priced them recently and they seem to have increased their pricing lately. To here anyway. |
