Hi Guys, I bought a 98 AU1 wagon in Awesome condition for not much money. The only negative is that it has 283000+ k's on it and I am wondering how many K's I should get outta the engine? I need a reliable car to transport my family around. Also is there anywhere in QLD that sells good engines for this car if it has to be replaced? Ta

if you look after it (and it's been looked after), easily half a million km. I think someone here has a vct fairlane with 700000+ and climbing

My engine got to 665,000km's before I decided to pull it out for a lower KM one... Original engine for the car.

Are you sure it's a VCT? Because if it is a VCT the kms on the odometer probably wont match the engine kms.

not a big difference in hardware from the vct to the intech, the vct part is pretty basic and hard wearing, as is the intech, very stout engines as long as they have been looked after reasonably.

The point is that is it is a VCT engine, then it has been swapped at some point in it's life, so the engine kms wont actually be reflected by the odo kms, so the engine could have more/less life left than expected.

It isn't original, wagons didn't get vct so there was an engine swap at some stage. the only engine options in wagons were normal EFI6 or LPG6
