Nissan should call it TEE-DAAA that will work.
Tiida never sold because it was an ordinary car spun off a too small renault platform.
Current pulsar is slightly larger, styled ok in sedan form, well equipped and CHEAP, I have seen heaps of them on the roads, and no, they weren't all rentals.

Still not as stupid as the Mitsubishi Pajero.
Most Spanish people will not like it if you called them a Pajero.

As long as they keep making GTR's till I can afford one then it doesn't really bother me what they call their Sheeple cars.

One would think after the Edsel disaster that car companies would be wary of any radical decisions. But time and time again we see some stupid decisions which make us shake our heads in disbelief. This is what occurs when senior management surround themselves with yes men.

Pretty sure it was more than the name change that was the problem, it was the car itself, and that shape! I would have committed suicide if I was in Nissan sales when that was announced.

Just retired recently from Nissan dealer parts dept. and I could tell you a
few stories about Nissan but would end up in court on wrong end of a
liable suit. Put short Nissan is ruled by Renault. Renault pulled out of
Australia a long time back when we protested against France and their
products. They eventually returned with Nissan in their back pocket and
proceeded to dump their unsold and unwanted goods on us disguised as
Nissans. They thought we were silly Aussies and as some showed, like
Holden Cruze buyers quite a few cant see past the name badge.
Tiida although ugly were a good car and practical with more leg room
than any mid or small sized Holden or Ford but again looks dictated to the
buyer what they want. Put a 1.6 non turbo automatic 3 speed in a car
that looks like a Lotus and people will buy because it looks good.
Ford made same mistake a number of years ago and still cant get ahead
due simply to the body design. Also a lot of tail lights as suggested by
Stevz showed look identical, try the new Pulsar tail light as well but is
same at quick glance but is different, unlike the Qaskqai which Ford
could probably pull a law suit on them. Problem is now that too many
countries are involved in supplying same model to Australia.
Nissan Micra is good example, Thailand, India, Indonesia. Mind you all
sell for same price despite not all costing the same. As a new Focus
owner Thailand model the finish is great, 10 out of 10 awarded by me to
the workers. Now another question, Nissan Thailand replacement parts
are a lot cheaper than Europe or Japan parts. Is ford Thailand parts
cheaper than South African or Germany parts.? They should be.

Nissan is certainly losing my respect of late. No diesel in the Patrol, and the Pathfinder is NOT a Pathfinder any longer. It has less clearance than my dad's BAII Falcon! It's a fat, fuel guzzling, ugly station wagon.
The Pathy used to be a great truck, and my parents' 2004 R50 model has been brilliant, very capable on the tracks as well.

I'm seeing Nissan and GM try to out Toyota, Toyota. By trying to supply generic relatively cheap reliable but boring cars. The problem I see with this is if you want a bland reliable Toyota clone, why would a buyer not chose a Toyota? They have been doing global reliable boring cars a lot longer and have build their reputation on it. Ford have thankfully gone down a dynamic path along with Mazda and I believe are better of for it. Mazda have been down the path a bit longer and seem to be reaping the rewards for it in Australia at least.
