Saw it. Very interesting bloke old Henry. Interesting relationship with his son and his union busting heavy's especially when it came to his workers and the production line. I absolutely freaked out at the size of his plant and that fact he did everything starting with the raw materials. Imagine that today.

Henry Ford was a great man, and an inventor.
Brought the V8 engine into mass production. Even had Clyde from 'Bonnie & Clyde' personally thanking Him for making such a fine engine. |

What about the size of the River Rouge complex, absolutely massive.
I only saw the last half but found the pros and cons of the man himself really interesting. |

I saw about 3/4 's of it today, love him or hate him you have to admire his engineering skills and what he accomplished in his life, he changed the world,
He was pretty tuff on young Edsel though, the poor bloke could never live up to his old mans expectations, very good doco. |

If any of you ever make it to Dearborn, be sure to visit the Henry Ford Museum.

Go early in the morning and allow yourself plenty of time. He also has a collection of historical building and homes. The museum is staffed by former employees who, like us here on the forum, are passionate about Fords. If you are in Dearborn also check out the Chrysler museum which I think is in Flint (about 1 hours drive)

Old Adolf used to have a portrait of Henry hanging in his office at the German Reich chancellery, apparently it took some diplomatic quickstepping from the Yanks to placate the Ruskies when they found it.....

I havn't seen the doco yet and it may explain it but I believe Henry's issue with Jews was he believed in doing a solid days work for your money, Jews he saw as mostly making money from other peoples money (banking) which he despised.
I know is been discussed before but one of the best books i've ever read was Robert Laceys book on him which i'm sure would go into far more depth on the man than this doco. |

Henry Ford was a brilliant man, but he was also an uneducated man. He was also a very opinionated man. Anti-Semitism was common in the US (and Europe, obviously) in his era. That said, he took it to the extreme in terms of distributing anti-Semitic propaganda. He eventually atoned somewhat for his excesses, and his descendants certainly worked to reverse the harm done by Henry. Ask Mark Fields.

Ford is currently the most profitable it has been in decades, and it's not simply due to Americans buying big trucks and SUVs this time.
