Hi everyone, car is a BA Fairmont Ghia.
A few months ago I had to replace my diff bushes, and since I like working on cars, opted to do it myself in the driveway. Since the cradle would be out I also opted to fit an 3.73 M86 LSD. I inspected the diff before fitting which meant taking the hat off. Now, I mustn't have sealed it properly when replacing the hat, and I have a leak. But the bigger issue is the fuel tank. Not having a flat surface to work on, I had to use my sloping driveway. Now I figure when raising the cradle back up, I must have have pressed the top of the tank into the car body, and cracked it, as it drips fuel when there's more than about 7/8th of a tank. So I will be replacing the fuel tank and re-sealing the diff, but I'm thinking I'll just bite the bullet and get it done by a mechanic. Given it was my first time doing the cradle and I had it out and in, in about 3.5hrs, I would expect a mechanic should charge less labor than that, but I'm unsure how much more work the tank is to replace. Are there any mechanics that you could recommend that can do the job for a good price? I'm located in the Blue Mountains, so somewhere around Penrith would be good. Cheers.
