Hello everybody, my AU TICK XR8 occasionally has a knock when starting, 6 or 7 knocks which at 1st I thought was coming from the front of the motor but not so sure now as I done the arm stretch and started it whilst the hood up standing beside the car and this time it sounded like it was coming from the bellhousing. Question, does the torque converter have parts inside that would knock if the auto trans was low on oil??? Thanks for reading. George

Imo its something a couple of expert's should listen to George, hopefully someone with more experience can chime in & advise you asap. Maybe do the stethoscope trick with a long metal rod & have a listen with it up against your ear & resting on the bellhousing? Sure its not your camshaft synchronizer? Sorry i coud'nt help more, good luck!
cheers, Maka

Found the cause of the knocking. Oil filter clogged up! Thanks for the help. George
