g'day, im just wondering if I could grab some help. I have a 92 falcon EB, im certain it has smartlock considering I have the rodlike key with flat sections, keyless entry with "smartlock" written on it, and a red light that flashes smartlock in the corner
my question is, I tried to start my car this morning, put my key in the ignition, turned it on, zero dash lights, zero accesories, zero anything except for that bloody smartlock light. Thing is, I tested to find if its a flat battery but I can turn my front headlights on fine... also, I left it for a couple hours, came back tried it again and my engine turned over once, cut off. I tried it again, I got full dashlights for about 2 seconds then it cutoff again. the interior light works fine? could it be loose wiring on the ignition? I pulled the steering column cover off but cant figure out how to get the ignition out? please help! need to drive my car or im ИИИИИИИИИ im wondering if this is the smartlock having a spaz attack or what? I have had this happen to me 2 times while I was driving, in that my car cutoff completely, and I got zero dashlights or anything, but after about 20 seconds I could start the car again, just that now it wont start at ALL. when I open the car with the key (I lock and lock with key as keyless entry doenst work very often) the smartlock continues to flash about once every second, I have no idea what the problem is, as my car was working fine last night and everything! arggghh, I do have an orange wire with a black connecter on the end hanging down from under the steering column, but thats been there since as long as I can remember! thanks PS, would the lights not be considered a high load? and no, the battery is brand new (about 7 months old) no residue build up, just black gunk like you allways see! |

have a look underneath the steering column, there will be ALOT of plugs, just keep pushing them in and fiddle with the wires, sounds like a fault in a plug, u could have kicked it out while geting out of the car

yeah I did change the head unit, but that was months and months ago, its been working fine since then :( ohwell, I just got back, me and my dad towed it to the auto electrician, they are gona check it out tomorow (I know, cheap way out) but im good with mechanical stuff, not electrics, so I figure they can take a look and fix it (since I need my car bad for work etc) and I will post what the problem was to you guys, thanks for the help thow!
