When many in the sporting world are expecting the Australian cricket team to take a hat trick in the One Day Cricket Finals, National Drag Racing Champion Brett 'The Boss' Stevens from Queensland has claimed his own World Record hat trick by making three Finals in separate professional race brackets at the Summernationals at the Western Sydney
International Dragway tonight (Saturday 11th February). Stevens took the winners trophy in the Top Bike bracket over Jack Daniel's Racing team mate Troy McLean on their Nitro Harley's, won the Top Doorslammer category in his 3000 horsepower Jack Daniel's Studebaker, and came within 4 hundredths of a second of winning the Top Alcohol bracket in his Kitten Car Care Products Funny Car finishing runner up to Ben Bray. The only person in the world to compete in three professional racing brackets simultaneously, Stevens stellar performance has now also made him the only person to ever make three Finals appearances at the same event. "It has been an unbelievable night, every person in the team has put in 110% as always and it has paid off in a big way," Stevens said. "To take all of the teams vehicles to the Finals is an enormous effort and I'd like to thank everyone involved for getting me there, I can't praise them enough." "All weekend the crew worked well together and we were fast and consistent, even with a few new guys in the team." "It would have been great for us to have won all three brackets but two out of three is still a fantastic result." "Now all we have to do is keep it up for the rest of the season and have a go at the National Championships." "We have set a new benchmark in the sport but you can be sure we will be going all out to push it even further." Stevens team mate Troy McLean aboard the teams second Jack Daniel's Racing Nitro Harley also had an excellent weekend, piloting his Top Bike to the runner up position behind the 'The Boss' for a one-two result in the bracket. "It was just one of those weekends when everything went really smoothly," McLean said. "Both Brett and myself consistently ran 6 second passes at up around the 200 mph mark and it was the backing of a great team that got us there." "Last year we finished first and second in the National Championship on the bikes and we are now heading into the back half of this season aiming at repeating this result." Pace Yourself. Please Drink Responsibly. thx NMD for the story.
