Default Who can identify these rims

Hey all, I've held onto a heap of XR >XC parts and dug up this set of steel 5 sloters that I vaguely remember taking off the rear of an XB GT coupe many many years ago.

My question is were they a stock item, were they confined as OEM for the XB coupe or any other info would be great and thanks in advance.

Her are the size/markings
8JJX 1480 fairly sure it's a 0 on the end
22 8 215

Cheesy aftermarket chrome rims from the evil 70s.

A full on face shot of the rim would probably make it a lot easier to identify

Well if it is a five slot GT wheel it must have had 8"" rims fitted to the GT centres and chromed because the Ford wheels were painted 6"" not 8""

5 slotters have that slight bulge around each slot and also convex face, the posted photo doesn't appear to have either. Need a photo of the full rim.

That will be a fully chromed steel rim that was originally sold as an 'Elstar'.

They were a five- hole design wheel with a similar sort of pattern to the popular alloy 'jelly bean', however the five holes were probably as long but not as high if that makes any sense.

They were all the rage in the late 70's and the car yards loved them because they were relatively cheap. Horrible bloody things but the bling factor drew a lot of people to them.

Russ.

I think I have a couple still. Had them on my Zd 20 odd years ago, celeste rings a bell to the name, Kmart specials if I recall, back when you could also buy air rifles and 22's from Kmart.

Hmm that's a good memory, my brother in law used to drag the 22 to school on sports day. He is now 47 and in the 70's target shooting was a school sport. These days things have changed, my 7 year old can't even take a bottle of juice to school with the whole crunch and sip initiative, let alone a rifle

I think you're on the money, also another brand that comes to mind for el cheapo chromies is Speedy - they did nasty jelly bean wheels and dodgy artificial chrome baskets wheels too.

Definitely from the pics they don't look like a factory Ford item, or worth anything more than a garden hose reel - for the back yard only.

Cheers!
