Just picked up an almost new Fiesta Ecoboost 1.0 (ex-demo had 4000k's).
My wife has a company car (Kuga) which we use 99% of the time (free gas). I'm starting a new job, so I've given back my trusty company car and since I haven't paid for gas for the past 7 years and I'm only driving it to work and back I wanted something cheap to run, hence the 1.0L I never imagined such a little car could make me smile so much every time I put my foot down. They're hilarious! Starting to put together a shopping list and doing some of the basics. The goal is to embarrass the father in-law's VE Commodore with a 1.0. I think if I can get to 180hp it should give it a scare... The first and easiest upgrade were the wheels. The stock car spun up the factory continentals waaaay to easy (even the wife said so). So these are 17x7 215's with some sticky rubber, much better! Last edited by BenjNZ; 29-12-2015 at 07:41 PM. |

Hated the chrome grill, so I plastidipped it black.
I found the easiest way was to remove the top grill and leave the bottom grill in place. Last edited by BenjNZ; 29-12-2015 at 07:43 PM. |

Picked up an arm rest from here along with a shark fin aerial.
The only other external addition is likely to be mud flaps. The next mission is the engine. Our local Dyno guys are open in the new year, so I'm off to see if they can plug in to the ECU then. |

Took it in to the local tuner and we tried a couple of options to get this wee engine "in tune" without success today. He's heading away to do some homework on it..... I'm told there's no point fitting induction kits and upgraded intercoolers without being able to tune the car.
If anyone has any info on this, it would be much appreciated.... |

Did you also have the chrome strips along the edge of the side windows (waist line)? If so, how are you looking at "de-chroming" those? Cheers |

So I never found a way to tweak the ecu and it turns out this was extremely fortunate.
After 18,000 kms I was driving to work and the car started to lose power. I got an engine warning light and the car started running on two cylinders. Cylinder two was diagnosed with a misfire and it got towed back to the dealer. Two days later I've been told the problem is "internal" and I'm not sure when I'll get it back. The dealer said they've never seen this before, but I suppose that's what they would say. |

I was given one of these as a loaner while my XR8 was being repaired and I have to say I was fairly impressed with how zippy it was. That impressed in fact I am now pondering a conversion with one into my wife's bug. With twice the power of the Hitler compressor and only having a footprint the size of a dinner plate it should go rather well.
If you have any luck extracting more power out of one of these things please let us know.
