Has anyone got any tips for removing old polish and wax from plastic trim like mirror surrounds and windscreen wiper trims?
Tried warm soapy water with limited success. Looks like the previous owner has applied the polish with a brick trowel, does my head in every time I see it.

My wifes car has black leather which shows up sunscreen from the kids, the only thing that would remove it was boiled hot water and a towel.

White spirits and a tooth brush is what I used to use, if they were sun bleaches as well mix in a little trans fluid they come up nice and black
Note the white spirits and trans blend is also awesome for squeaking doors

Use Auto Glym Bumper & Trim Gel, this will restore your plastic trims & surrounds.
I find this the best product for exterior plastics. http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Pro...l-325mL/383925 |

If she's like my sister, she'll never know - never go looking for them, likely never know she had them. This was good tip for me - about 6 months back I posted a thread asking about polishers etc. Got the CCP kit back then, finally pulled it out on the weekend and was very careless where the bonnet meets the plastic trim around wipers at the windscreen. Very timely thread for me. |

Have you got kids? Grab an eraser out if their pencil case; quick, clean and easy way to get the white residue off 100%. So easy that you won't bother taping up your trims when you Polish/wax.
(Or do as I did and run down to the shops and buy a cheap eraser) |
