I haven't seen a 4 door holden ute yet that the rear end doesn't bounch up and down. Must be a shocker to drive, have a look next time you pass one, the rear end is over sprung or something. The front is tight it's just the rear.

If they had an XR8 Ute or even the XLS V8 (3 valve) with four doors (like the crewman but tougher) i would buy one tomorrow. Imagine one lowered with 19" wheels, big exhaust, flash tune etc like my two cars with around 250 RWKS. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm tough.

I would of thought "a few hundred per month" would be a good figure for a car like this. I guess to make money they would have a figure worked out which a few hundred is not enough.......

That's not the full story bathurst77. They said it wouldn't sell as well as what they were making, which was the Territory and has proven to be correct. They also said they couldn't do everything at once

I reckon it'll eventually happen but be based on the Territory rather than the Falcon and make the Courier redundant.

The crewman a shoddie band aid attempt, limited space, no leg room in back, rattles a million. I hope Ford never produce a vehicle like this!

With the $$$ required, I can't see it happening.

The Crewman is unlikely to be produced in a VE version, it may just be a case of how long they persist with the current model. Then again, the XF ute refused to die for a while...

I don't see the point of 4 door (or duel cab utes) - the trays are absolutley useless, can't fit a motobike as they arn't long enough, can't fit much actually, maybe a suitcase. If the design somehow made for a more efficient load area then I would buy one over a single cab.

I would buy one. The R5 didnt look too bad, but would look better if it had a BA/BF front on it.
Personally I would prefer to have a smaller tray and have some decent cabin space. The 4x4 dual cabs have a smaller tray thean the single cabs and they sell quite well so I dont think this is such a big problem. I would certainly buy one over say a courier purely for the comfort, as well as the extra performance and better looks.

In my area there are quite a few crewmans, but i think their back seat is definately what holds them back. I am sure they would be more popular if you could actually sit in the back.

I dont think a 4 door ford ute will happen though, and if it does it wont be for quite a while.

We have 4 Crewman at work and the guys all like them except parking can be tight. The boss's is a Cross 8 and he always raves how he can go dirt biking anywhere he wants fits 2 bikes and all the gear etc.
I agree on the back seat space as I'm quite tall but as he says if you dont like it walk! Provided the front seat are not set right back you can easily fit 3 blokes. Also the reason our company bought them is because the rear trays were bigger than the Jap 4 door utes and the boss loves his V8s.
There is no VE Crewman, but then again there is no VE Ute yet either so maybe they will continue making them?
So I think yes Ford can or will build something similar.

you have to realise the prototype was built pre BA so thats the reason it has the AU type front on it...

i agree that it'd look awesome with a BA / BF XR front... and imagine how nuce the persuit / tornado versions would look

I reckon it would be most likely on a Territory base as has been mentioned. I would like to see a Chev Avalanche style removeable rear cabin wall too, for more flexibility.

They will never build it.

Maintaining 2 seperate platforms in such a small market such as AUS while the US arm is still in "junk bond" status means no major developments for a long time.

I doubt we will see anything but facelifts to the BA/Territory for the next decade and I would go as far as to say the future looks bleak after that for the platform.

Holden made lots of little variations from the Commie base but it's cost them a ИИИИ load to go after little niche markets and it hasn't increased their market share at all.

So while I liked the R5 to it's never going to happen. Ever.
