Is there a how to or step by step guide on replacing the old fluid with new fluid on the AUII XR8 power steering unit.
I would like to put some new fluid in mine. Regards. |

Found this on Ford Mods
" you discommect the outfeed from the stering rack, use a oil container beneath the car so no mess, run car idle for a feww minutes, then wait till u hear a whirring sound from the engine bay then u know fluid is really low..... re- connect the out feed line on the power seering assembly when car is off, fill power steering resoviour until at top. leave cap off the resoviour container run car on idle when u see fluid level drop add more fluid keep doing this until resoviour becomes to the full line and does not drop.... jack the front off the car both wheels and rotate the wheels from left to right get some one to tell u when thee bubbles have stopped in the resoviour then u know that the power steering system is fully bleed and operational..... this is the method a mechanic would use....and i also used this method... hopee fully this info is of some use " UK

I also found this a little while back posted by "aussiblue".
This assumes you have already drained some doing a repair; if not drain by: a) Removing the existing fluid in the reservoir with a roasting baster or similar and top up with new clean fluid. B) Then remove the pressure switch and running the engine with wheels straight ahead (do not turn wheels while draining) with cap off the pump reservoir and only drain enough so the level reservoir at the pump just drop to the bottom (this is a two man job one watching the level and one ready to switch off on cue and replace the switch asap). |
