Oh but that's sexist!!!!... The whining horde that were rapt when grid-girls started to be axed, and lose income, (LOL).

Recent Ford Australia TV commercial... No girls or people just the legend itself.

Does it for me.

I guess the million dollar question is, 'is tv advertising worth the investment?'

Obviously Toyota, Hyundai, Ford, Mazda, Isuzu etc all still use FTA tv as an advertising medium, but surely it's becoming less and less value for them??

Maybe not the cheapest... But still the fastest way to reach millions of people in just 30 seconds.

With pay TV, and streaming/subscription services becoming almost main stream, the return on investment must be getting close to making it not worth it. Those that still watch FTA normally use the ad breaks to get up and do something or channel surf...

Plenty of ads on Pay TV these days.. seems they/we forgot what we were paying for. But that’s another topic for another day.

I’ve always laughed at Car ads... they hardly show the vehicle at all, just some family or river...

Marketing is all about "Selling the sizzle... Not the steak".

People don't buy "cars" in the mechanical sense... They buy the dream, what fits their lifestyle, what will make their life easier, better, more fun, keep up with the Jones, ego, freedom, etc, etc.

What was the car ad where the neighbours lawn had grown 3 feet because the family was always off on some weekend adventure?

That was a memorable one.
(Except for the type of car it was!)

The lawn did not get mowed because they went into the outback in their Jeep, it broke down, and they ended up like Burke and Wills.
