Picked up a 49-53 flathead yesterday and ive been trying to decipher a number stamped into the top of the block next to the back rhs corner of the intake manifold. Im pretty certain its a 239cube possibly a ‘49 ford engine.

No it’s definitely an “O”. I already know what the C stands for. Thats why this alpha numeric number doesn’t make sense. Its also not a letter/number/letter/number cypher...

It came complete with what looks like original manual gearbox with tailshaft yoke so dont think its a genny or industrial use..

Not a Simca Vedette motor? They have a different bellhousing flange to the Ford product, bit hard to see in the pictures.
