When only one car in the field actually comes as a V8 then yes, it's a farce.

No, it's not really V8 Supercar racing, but I think it will be fun to watch...

What platform would they use?

If they used a commercially available one like Xbox or Playstation, can you imagine the flame wars start up the first time some 15 yr old kid posts his own fastest lap at Bathurst that beats the pro drivers pole time, lol.

Might not be too bad to watch for the odd race or a laugh every now and then. Recently took a lot at a Porsche Cup of America sim race (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lezahpLRoFQ) and was quite impressed with the clean racing and commentary.

I can't wait for this. iRacing has proven to be a great platform for realistic racing, so hopefully they use that.

Anyone whinging that it's not the same, well you're right, it isn't, it's completely different. But it's a bloody great alternative to sitting around and grumbling about there being no racing at all to watch.

If you really get sad about sim racing, maybe pop on your VHS recordings of whatever period you deemed to have been the "Golden Years" and start a thread about that.

From what I understand, it will be iRacing.

For those not familiar with Sim racing, here's a guy in his rig doing laps of Mount Panorama in a Mustang. Not sure what brand of Wheel and pedals he's using, but the triple monitors seem to be in the 28-32 inch range. He's obviously got a camera strapped to his head so you can see when he turns his head...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2h2XZ92WLwc

Also, the cars have to be set up like real cars with ratios, suspension, aero etc.

There are a lot of pro racers that also do iRacing. Scott McLaughlin, Van Gizbergen, Verstappen, Dale Earnhardt Jr, Rubens Barrichello and even Marcos Ambrose prefers this over actual track racing...

https://www.iracing.com/testimonials/

It should be fun to watch.

So if we have to resort to watching this https://www.supercars.com/news/champ...ies-challenge/ to get there’s and our fix,
Then I hope they invite all the co drivers as well, to make it a 40 or 50 car grid. Is there a limit to how many can log onto it at the same time?

No limit as far as I'm aware of. It would be cool to see the co-drivers join in.

I’ll give it a miss and head to the shed and work on something, I really don’t see it as an alternative

I'd much rather log in and race against them, but I already have enough expensive habits. The gear to do it properly looks proper pricey.
