I like both but if I had to pick between the two it would be Lambo. Love the Diablo and Aventador. Old and new.

Although I noticed Porsche is an option so a 911 Turbo would be more than enough for me if I hit the lotto.

It’s not Just the fees or insurance that costs. It’s the upkeep of the car ( brakes , tyres, oils ) Track days are fun but it’s like putting 10,000 klm on your car in a day.

No doubt that's correct but I doubt someone who can afford a half million car as a toy is too fussed about any of those.

I know if I bought one it would see heaps of track time to enjoy and get stuck into it.

I wouldn't say no to any of the cars listed in the poll and would love to own them but if it was just the lottery I'd won and I wasn't making squillions then for me it would be a shed full of old classic Ford, Holden and GM products and a couple of car hoists.

Simple tastes for a simple man.

I'm surprised given the capability of the supercars desired, nobody mentioned advanced driver training. I know of one young fella, superb and fast driver, has driven Nascar and has been employed as a driver at a private racecourse outside one of the States' big cities - takes hedge fund managers and their sons and teaches them to drive the track.

For me, I'm not racing experienced at all, just got over a million ks on country roads here - but if I were to get that dream Countach (80's kid) or R8 I'd invest big on learning how to use it. (Then there's the intersection between wealth to purchase it and reflexes and body conditioning required to use it well)

So yeah the dream is far closer to earth, and more for good road cars and wagons, something trusted and loved and treated more like a family pet.

I've done several courses both motorcycle and car.

My ex used to be involved in the geelong speed trials and I can tell you for nothing before she got sick I'd only ever met 2 people who could drive like her.

I've just remembered why I may be anti-Porsche.

For Dad's 60th I got my mate's Dad to do the catering, and all paid for as we wanted to support his new business.

After being paid a bloody good amount (over 100 people there and tents etc) he then sent an invoice for "incidental breakage" of 50 bucks or so. Yep, 50 to his son's mates Dad.

He then threatened legal action when Dad refused to pay when he already made heaps of money that night. I paid it.

S^it form and s^it bloke. Drives a Porsche GT2.

I think if you have a track day and you can run on your own pace you can be sympathetic to the car- ie do bursts and then have periods of cooling cruising for tyres and car to cool a bit.

But if it is a timed track day of 5 laps etc - yeah- is brutal on the car and if you like your car you are cringing if you are really pushing for a time because you have to abuse your car- brakes, gear changes, WOT each gear and heel and toeing aggressively......

I mean I'm not a Porsche fan but I'm pretty sure they welcome their buyer's to do it - especially the GT track versions, built for it yet still street legal.

OK I admit. It looked awesome (wider than I thought) and best Porsche I've ever seen.
