EV would be an advantage underground though, no fumes.

Any underground mine would be looking at moving to an electric fleet to reduce their particulate emissions so they can reduce the health impacts on their workers. Even if their power is sourced from diesel generators, at least those emissions are not occurring in the enclosed underground environment.

Why would you price it so expensively - an EV has less components than a traditional ICE car

The article does a pretty good job of expounding on the topic of cost. Innovation, after all, is expensive-it always has been. Maybe this is due to the fact that manufacturers want to make more money on the "novelty" effect. So far, the ecological theme does not really bother them, does it?

'Innovation'? Electric cars predate internal combustion engines, I don't think LDV have done any innovation with their EVs.

All LDV have done is remove anything ICE related and not required for an EV version, throw in the EV components bolting them in on the unchanged ICE platform and then charge an absolute rip-off markup for a sub-par product...compare this the new EV MB Sprinter which if it comes out similarly priced will really make the supposedly "cheaper" LDV competitor inconsequential.
