Default Windscreen cover

Can anyone tell me if NRMA windscreen cover covers a cracked windscreen?
A mate of mine says that they wont cover a cracked screen say from where a mirror has come off it has to be a smashed screen while driving.
Does anybody know for sure?

Thanks.

And how will they know. I doubt they send an asessor out to check. Nothing that a ball pane hammer wont fix anyways. Ring the local windscreen place and ask them.

There is a big chunk where the mirror fell off and a big crack from the top to halfway down the screen it was like that when I bought it.

I was thinking I could pay to get it replaced and send them the bill.

Not sure how it works either, I need to get mine replaced.

But as they say, if I rang them and they said it had to be smashed it just head out into the garage, cover everything with a sheet and smash it. Then ring em back.

First of all, you need to check on your policy as to whether you have windscreen replacement optioned. Some insurance policies charge more for that option, while others throw it in. Each policy is different!

Well thats pretty obvious. But good advice nonetheless.

My policy is with Vigil and they do have it.

My statement above is not representative of fordforums.com.au policy and I dont recommend smashing your windscreen on purpose until you are sure you are covered.

Well your set, damage is damage. Just go to a windscreen place like o'briens or whatever (ring first) with your policy details and they will change it and charge your insurance company. They wont care how it happened!
