After a whole lot of running around before i put my car up on stilts to have a look at the damage, it turns out i had smapped my drivers axle, just at the base of the first CV.
all in all, its fine, BUT! i cant remove the broken off stub from the hub assembly! is there some sort of trick, or am i just rooted? Please, i need help... even in the form of a scan from the apppropriate pages from a worksop manual! thanks in advance Janek |

I had fun trying to get the axle seal off the axle itself ... and the related bearing as well ... it was a PITA. I didn't break and axle though ... just had a stuffed seal that was leaking all over the brake/hub/wheel.
I'd need to look at it to see what you are talking about though. But from memory it was something along the lines of using a massive hammer and a cold chisel. And a lot of elbow grease ... also an old towel ... with the help of someone else too. And a vice. *shakes head* will be getting someone else to do that job next time.

my scanner drivers seem to be fubared but I've *got* to get it up and running tonight. I've got a Gregory's w/s manual and will post you the relevant pages later, if you still need them. If so, pm me an email addy. |

OK janek that's done. Sorry about the size but I figured you'd rather the whole section than wondering if there's bits missing.
Good luck with it. edit: looks like it didn't like the size. I'll send each page separately. Last edited by ronwest; 07-05-2006 at 01:11 AM. |
