i wish i knew! my tacho gets to 4000 then drops to zero.
although i can get to 80km/h in first(auto) possibly a good thing tacho doesnt work :P
id hate to see what it gets up to

i wouldnt know about pinto's, but my 1600 has been up to 6500 before :

I take my 1600 to 7200 occasionally... the cam in it has a power band of 3k - 7k and it has the rest of the gear to handle it... sounds pretty mean up past 5000 through the new 4-1 pacemakers too

The tacho only goes upto 6 tho so that is an estimate judged on how close it comes to hitting 0 again!
Fastest i've had it up to was 170 and that was 4500rpm in fourth so top is around 200 maybe but it feels like your doing 300 with the amount of vibrations, exhaust and induction noise!

I've had mine over 9000rpm but the power starts to drop off about 8000rpm.

yeh ok ive had my 1600 up to 6500 and thats a bout it ive had it to 175k but i wouldnt go much over that but yeh its fun
