5 speed auto? Where the F*** do these people keep coming up with this fanciful notion? This isn't the first time I've seen it.

Price is certainly right though.

4 speed, plus lock up converter. I've heard Ford call them 5 speed - moreso the ESS models though. It's still 4 speed to me. ( or 7 if you count PR&N)

That car in the latest Performance Ford Magazine in the rare spares on the street section at the back of the Mag. It's a lady owner and her partner car has a Red AU XR6 TURBO.

Very nice car but i prefer manual! :dj:

Yes they did. Well my TL50 brochure has it as " Ford new 5speed Electronic Sport Shift Auto"

It's all just marketing:

4 speed, plus lock up converter. I've heard Ford call them 5 speed, but in fact they are just the same 4 speed as in every other AU.

What annoys me is people that criticise the AU's looks always show or mention a stock white AU1 Forte. Never a TS or XR model is shown .
Plus onfire has proved that with lowering & a good set of wheels the AU1 Forte can look neat.

Well even if you count the lock up torque convertor you still don't get five gears. The fact is that the convertor locks in both third and fourth gears so if you wanted to (falsely) count that as giving extra ratios then you actually have six.

I've never seen any Ford advertising that called it five speed. But that's not to say there wasn't a typo in one of their sales brochures. After all they said the T3s had fog lights which of course they didn't - they have driving lights in the place where the fog lights are supposed to be mounted.

For sure. T series falcs are un real. And what makes them, even better are they are rare. You see clubbies every day but hardly a T series. Let those criticise the Au but standard equip. is a lot better than some now. :eclipsee_

I wouldn't worry too much about the uneducated masses that are totally unaware on what they are missing out on.

5 speed tiptronic is about as fanciful as 'Adaptive Shift' really lol.

Anyhow is this car on the T-Series register?
